The film industry (located in Hollywood, sometimes called “the temple of world cinema”) is the most important in the world.

Despite numerous job cuts in the 1980s, California’s economy nevertheless remained prosperous and dynamic thanks to very efficient sectors of research and high technology – the Silicon Valley, the “feud” of world computing, is a world-famous illustration, a species Economic “model” for business creation and development – but also thanks to the presence of cheap labor and the development of maquiladoras (or subcontracting assembly workshops) on the Mexican border, namely between Tijuana and San Diego.
