California has seen a booming economic and demographic growth over the twentieth and century, notably thanks to exceptional natural advantages. Today the first American state thanks to its economic level, California could figure among the top ten world powers. Despite numerous job cuts in the 1980s, California’s economy nevertheless remained prosperous and dynamic thanks to very efficient sectors of research and high technology – the Silicon Valley, the “feud” of world computing, is a world-famous illustration, a species Economic “model” for business creation and development – but also thanks to the presence of cheap labor and the development of maquiladoras (or subcontracting assembly workshops) on the Mexican border, namely between Tijuana and San Diego. The turn towards the economic zone of the Pacific, today more active of the world, California attracts important flows of foreign capital, especially Japanese.
California has numerous centers of scientific and university investigations of world-wide fame, among which the university of California to Berkeley, the Californian Institute outside Technology (Caltech) to Pasadena, or the university Stanford to Palo Alto.
Tourism, particularly developed, relies on incomparable natural and cultural sites: Los Angeles and its contemporary art museum (the world’s largest); San Francisco and its bay; Disneyland, Anaheim; Hollywood; the Yosemite National Park and Sequoia National Park; and finally, Southern California beaches.

Turlock Christian School – Turlock, Bay Area
The Turlock Christian School is a private school in Turlock, California that was founded in 1969. The school is currently attended by around 720 students from kindergarten to 12th grade. The students are taught here at a very good level and can choose from a variety of AP courses, i.e. courses at the highest level, which should prepare the students well for the university. Furthermore, the school has focused on the natural sciences and technology, which are supported by many different and interesting courses, clubs and projects.
But for all students who are not very interested in science and technology, there is of course a broad curriculum with interesting subjects such as business, Spanish and American culture. Students have access to the latest technology during their school days.

Salk Institute for Biological Studies
