The region was explored, in 1673, by the French Louis Jolliet and Jacques, then, in 1679, by Robert Cavelier the Sala, which builds extremely Crèvecœur on the edge of Lake Peoria. In 1712, the entire region located south of the Illinois River was included in the French province Louisiana.
The first permanent French colony was founded in 1720, at Kaskaskia. However, the French made no serious attempt to colonize the territory. Following the 1763 Paris Treaty, the region was surrendered by France to England, which united it, in 1774, with the province of Quebec. In 1778, during the American War of Independence, the Virginians placed under the command of Rogers Clark invaded Illinois and captured the English garrisons of Cahokia and Kaskaskia. American sovereignty over the region as a whole was recognized after the War of Independence (Treaty of Paris, 1783). First incorporated to diverse territories, Illinois was constituted in autonomous territory in 1809. It integrated to join the Union on December 3, 1818, as the twenty first American State.
The defeat of the Indians, hunted Illinois, the construction of the Illinois-Michigan canal from 1836, the development of the railways in the 1850s accelerated economic development and the colonization of the region. In 1870, Illinois became the first agricultural state in the United States. In the 1870s, farmers, grouped in the Granger agrarian movement, opposed industrialization. This however ceased to accelerate. After a rapid development in the years 1880-1890 (83 000 workers of the 000 in 1890), it experienced a spectacular expansion during the twentieth century and was accompanied by a massive immigration of workers to the Illinois cities. In the mid-1950s, the Illinois metallurgical and steel industries were the most important in the country and accounted for half of the state’s industrial production. A diversification of the industry took place from the 1960s, namely in the sectors of automobiles, tires and high-tech industries.

Lake Forest Academy is a private school in the heart of the Midwest, Illinois. About 30 miles north of Chicago is the school, which was founded in 1857. There are so-called House Cup Competitions, because every student and all teachers belong to one of four houses, similar to Harry Potter and diligently collect points through various competitions. In every season there is also a so-called “Spirit Week” in which there is always a lot going on. Even at the weekends, it is never boring here, because the students are always offered a variety of activities and excursions, sometimes they go to a shopping mall, sometimes to Chicago, to concerts, theater performances, national parks, baseball games and much, much more.
The boarding school is located in Lake Forest, Illinois. Lake Forest is a very wealthy suburb of Chicago. Midwest people are best known for their warm-heartedness and open nature. There are all four seasons in Illinois and the metropolis of Chicago is only a stone’s throw away, besides the Bean and the harbor there are many other interesting things to see here.
